Skin doctor in raipur explains how to pick a cleanser

How to choose the Right Cleanser ?

Many people mistake cleansing to be something that simply cleans the skin and has little more effect, yet they couldn’t be more wrong. It’s one of the most important steps in your skin care routine.

Incorrect Cleansing can result in excessively oily or dry skin, sensitivities or even breakouts. Worst of all it can result in a compromised barrier of skin.

Everyone’s skin is unique & should be treated as such. It’s super important that your cleanser suits your needs – whether you’re oily, combination, dry, dehydrated or sensitive.

  • Make sure to use a cleanser that is designed for the face, not the body or an all in one.
  • You’re using makeup wipes to cleanse your face:
Makeup wipes don’t clean your skin. They mostly smear around whatever makeup, dirt & dead skin is hanging out on your face, leaving a trail of irritated skin in their wake. Makeup removing wipes – just no. They are often heavily fragranced & PACKED with preservatives to keep ‘em fresh. I LOVE preservatives, but they can be irritating in high amounts when left on skin -& marketing convinced people that they DON’T need to wash off the residue from wipes!
  • You’re not washing your hands before cleansing:
Here’s a fact: Your hands are nasty! They’re like sponges, picking up bacteria & dirt from anything you touch, it’s so important to wash them right before you cleanse (or touch your skin in any way)
  • Avoid fragranced cleansers (fragrance/perfume/limonene/linalool/essential oils)
  • Look for pH balanced cleanser, close to skin pH (pH 4.5-5.5)
  • Don’t use soap on your face. It’s alkaline-even close to pH of 10! Your skin is acidic & needs to stay this way to thrive.
  • Avoid SLS – Sodium LaurYL Sulfate. SLES (Sodium LaurETH Sulfate) is a MILDER surfactant & is OK. People often confuse those two & demonise both, when the second one is much gentler & can work good for oilier skin
  • Foam cleansers are suitable for people with excessively oily skin.
  • Cleansers with Salicylic acid or tea tree oil can be helpful for acne prone skin. But these Active ingredients work better when actually left on the skin😉
  • Oh & all the scrub cleansers – those are not for everyday use (I’d say those are honestly not for any use, at all). Creating micro-tears & damaging your skin barrier like that will only agitate the skin condition
  • Since we’re here, wash off micellar solution as well, even when the packaging says otherwise😅
  • I’ll finish with my ‘fave’ beauty-guru statement – “It left my skin squeaky clean!😍” Run away! Squeaky clean = depleted lipid barrier, you don’t want that.

Yes ! Our diet plays a big role in causing or preventing pimples. There are some foods that are notorious to give you pimples once you consume them. Lets see.

The Pimple Clearing Diet : What NOT to Eat ?

1) Foods with High Glycemic Index

Glycemic Index is the capacity of a food item as to how fast and how much it can raise your blood sugar. The rise in the blood sugar triggers the series of events that signals your oil glands to produce more oil and result in new pimples. Foods with high glycemic index include refined carbohydrates and sugars like white bread, potato chips, cookies, cake and pastry.

2) Dairy products

Dairy products like milk, cheese, and curd provoke the release of insulin in your body. This insulin spike in turn causes acne. Also the milk proteins, casein and whey have been directly linked to acne.

3) Milk chocolates

The added sugar in the chocolates is mainly responsible for causing acne. Dark chocolates are usually safe and have not been known to cause pimples. So next time if you wanna grab a chocolate, go for 100 percent cocoa dark chocolate and not the sugary one.

4) Fast Foods

Fried foods and processed baked ones have unhealthy saturated and trans fats that can release pro inflammatory cytokines resulting in inflammation making the skin red and angry. So guys, say no to pizza and burger if you really don’t want a new pimple.

FACE PEEL, CHEMICAL PEEL , BEFORE AND AFTER

Chemical Peel

Do you need a Chemical Peel ? Let us understand. Our skin is flawless and beautiful during our childhood, isnt it ? As the years pass, it becomes dull. looses its shine and smooth texture, fine lines and wrinkles develop, and of course we can notice some pigmentation as well. This is the cumulative result of sun exposure and pollution that reflects onto the top visible layer of our skin.

Our skin is made up of 5 layers, from top to bottom. The top layer suffers the maximum damage due to external environment. During childhood, this damage cannot be seen, as the top layer sheds away very fast, in a matter of few days, and a new layer from the bottom comes up and takes its place. This maintains the healthy flawless shine on the face.

As we age, the top layer loooses its capability to shed off and it stays there as a dead layer suffering all the damage and reflecting a dull wrinkled look. Here comes the need of a chemical peel, which sheds off this layer and allows a new healthy layer of skin to come and take its place bringing back the glory of face.

Face peels are safe procedures when done in safe hands. They are not painful and just take 30 minutes. Sun protection is required at least for 5 days after a face peel. Results are usually noticeable within 12 to 15 days.

Face peels are perfect for brides before marriage, for someone having an important event or a function, before a party (Pre Party Peel) , or just for maintainence of a healthy glowing skin.
